Halfway There has an interesting post about R. Josiah Magnuson – one of the young creationists in the AnswersInGenesis Research Papers contest. He was runner-up twice. What is the budding little creationist up to now? Forming the YLCA (“Young Christian Leaders’ Alliance”), although you’d think it was “Young Christian Liberation Army”. Is this the future of American Creationism – to be pushed further and further from the mainstream, into fantasies involving national control, and the “rightness” of their own scientifically illiterate ideas? From the YCLA constitution:
1. God’s Words are pure; KJV is the most accurate version. 2. The Members of the Trinity are distinct but act totally harmoniously. 3. Creation was by direct act of God. 4. Man is equal in humanity, responsibility, and rights. 5. Authorities are to be respected; must be obeyed when commands do not violate Scripture. 6. Individuals are naturally free to make decisions over their own consciences. 7. Death and suffering came by sin. 8. Man must have faith in Christ and His atonement to be saved from sin. 9. Baptism is correct and is by immersion. 10. Heaven and Hell are literal. 11. Christ will bodily return to Earth.
I sort of get the feeling that Josiah will be moving to Montana soon. Well, check out Halfway There. Maybe someone should tell Dembski about this. I’m sure he’d be happy to sign up – but only as a super-secret member.
I had a little back and forth (if you can call that it) with Josiaha while back. Pretty typical creationist bullshit spewing the same canards you’d expect. But mixed with the ignorance once can only have from not having experienced much of the world.
I can’t help but think of Frank Zappa when you said will be moving to Montana soon.
