I was just thinking about the number of comedians who are atheists or agnostics. I wonder if it’s significantly higher than the general population.
Louie CK: “Louis CK learns about the Catholic Church”
George Carlin: “When it comes to bullshit … you have to stand in awe of religion”
Bill Hicks: Christ and Christians
Bill Maher on Religion
Kathy Griffin, Keith Malley, etc. And that’s just off the top of my head.
Ricky Gervais
How about Dylan Moran and Eddie Izzard…
Here´s a few good clips with them on the above subject
Moran on religion:
Izzard on church of england:
Izzard on christmas and easter:

How could you forget Pat Condell?
wut about Lewis Back, Julian Seeney, Garafolo, Kathy Griffen,Hicks, Silverman, Barr, Whoopie, I’m not sure who all is atheist but all have made disparaging remarks about religion
I think they tend to be more agnostic or atheist because these people are observational. They tend to think alot more than the average person and, as we know, exercising the grey matter between the ears tends to start chucking out stupid irrational ideas that you just accept cause you never thought about it critically.
I dont think there is a direct corelation. Most ppl of all time like to entertain others, if they can get rich and famoust at the same time then its even better. But succesfull comedians, ppl who are good at it and not afraid to be on stage tend to be stronger individuals, more independent and more intelligent. And there is a correlation between intelligence and atheism / agnosticism (or maybe its between atheism and intelligence). Its also harder to convince ppl about god and religion if they are more independent. Even more important, criticism of authorities makes a great subjekt. This in itself cannot be made into an argument for or against religion of course.
“And there is a correlation between intelligence and atheism / agnosticism (or maybe its between atheism and intelligence).”
There absolutely, positively is not.

..that is, if you mean to say that atheism/agnosticism is more intelligent.
i think you mean there is a correlation between ignorance and atheism
i think you mean there is a correlation with ignorance and atheism, and that case your absolutely right
…only white ones really. aziz ansari excluded. it’s interesting, but it’s something i noticed.
Dara O’Brien, Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Car, Steven Fry, David Mitchell, Hugh Laurie….All comedians (at least to an extent) who are also Athiests….and highly intelligent, I think Comedians tend to be intelligent and Intelligent people tend to be Athiests
Well I’m a comedian and an agnostic and I think it’s because comedians are too depressed to believe there’s a god.
Its complex…its cause they see all the B.S. in the world. Sadly here on this earth we are not as advanced as we would like to think we are. People seem to actually take the bible literally and Jesus himself spoke against taking the bible word for word…Im sure this is confusing for most people but all you gotta do is open up your brain (smoke some MJ maybe) and read the bible. Jesus warns against exactly the way Christians are practicing it to date, he states that the Truth is Within the bible and that it is NOT THEEEE bible.
Christians would benefit from these “intelligent” depressed people if they got over themselves. The bible is written by Human hands…you have to read between the lines and yeah it sucks but who said finding out the truth is easy.
Atheists are always the strongest believers…ironically. They have so many conclusions about God and they tend to think about God constantly.
Excuse this lengthiness but i’m passionate about this and i feel like there isn’t much thought going deep enough on this, it always ends up being this selfish, ego stroking we do instead of actually trying to take what Jesus says and did seriously. If Christians Got over ourselves we would understand a whole lot more, be a whole lot more loving and a whole lot more like Jesus…bottom line…”Religion” is an earthly thing and yes its all sorts of backwards so much so that if Jesus was here right this sec in the Flesh he would be disappointed with it just like the ‘atheists”. Yet the one difference is that he will always Love, because as complex as it is, its still the most simple thing. God IS love, not a bearded man in the clouds, he is US when we are at our most selfless moments, when we are doing our best to love our family and friends to spite Satan (fear, doubt, anger, pain, greed, death) that’s when God is real. So yes God does not exist in the way that we understand existing, God is the Positive Creative force that binds everything together…Death (satan) is the force that tares it apart. So WE have the power to either become Death or Life but it depends on if we choose to Philosophically understand that our body is a machine intended to allow us to function on this earth, or we can cower and fear and Grip onto the false hope that our bodies are the end all.
