I was just thinking about the number of comedians who are atheists or agnostics. I wonder if it’s significantly higher than the general population.
Louie CK: “Louis CK learns about the Catholic Church”
George Carlin: “When it comes to bullshit … you have to stand in awe of religion”
Bill Hicks: Christ and Christians
Bill Maher on Religion
Kathy Griffin, Keith Malley, etc. And that’s just off the top of my head.
Ricky Gervais
How about Dylan Moran and Eddie Izzard…
Here´s a few good clips with them on the above subject
Moran on religion:
Izzard on church of england:
Izzard on christmas and easter:

How could you forget Pat Condell?
wut about Lewis Back, Julian Seeney, Garafolo, Kathy Griffen,Hicks, Silverman, Barr, Whoopie, I’m not sure who all is atheist but all have made disparaging remarks about religion
I think they tend to be more agnostic or atheist because these people are observational. They tend to think alot more than the average person and, as we know, exercising the grey matter between the ears tends to start chucking out stupid irrational ideas that you just accept cause you never thought about it critically.
I dont think there is a direct corelation. Most ppl of all time like to entertain others, if they can get rich and famoust at the same time then its even better. But succesfull comedians, ppl who are good at it and not afraid to be on stage tend to be stronger individuals, more independent and more intelligent. And there is a correlation between intelligence and atheism / agnosticism (or maybe its between atheism and intelligence). Its also harder to convince ppl about god and religion if they are more independent. Even more important, criticism of authorities makes a great subjekt. This in itself cannot be made into an argument for or against religion of course.
“And there is a correlation between intelligence and atheism / agnosticism (or maybe its between atheism and intelligence).”
There absolutely, positively is not.

..that is, if you mean to say that atheism/agnosticism is more intelligent.
i think you mean there is a correlation between ignorance and atheism
i think you mean there is a correlation with ignorance and atheism, and that case your absolutely right
…only white ones really. aziz ansari excluded. it’s interesting, but it’s something i noticed.
Dara O’Brien, Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Car, Steven Fry, David Mitchell, Hugh Laurie….All comedians (at least to an extent) who are also Athiests….and highly intelligent, I think Comedians tend to be intelligent and Intelligent people tend to be Athiests
Well I’m a comedian and an agnostic and I think it’s because comedians are too depressed to believe there’s a god.
