The Onion (satire newspaper) had a very funny article back in 2005 on this very subject:

Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Theory

TOPEKA, KS—Evangelical physicists are now asserting that objects fall because a higher power is pushing them down.

Excellent post!!

Saddly, facts do not matter to those who push the ID agenda, and I am sure that Ben Stein's movie will have the same level of factual content about science and history as Jesus Camp did when we found out a home school child had been taught that Galileo gave up science "for Grace," and made the right decision in doing so.

Fact's have no bearing on what they do. For instance, in response to one my own blogs challenging the idea that western Democracy is "founded" on Chrisitian ideas, I got a response from someone who insisted that democracy was invented by anicient hebrews and later improved by Christians....and the guy was totally serious about it....

I love this. The reality-based community even footnotes its *parodies*. If I thought people were rational, I'd conclude that "faith" didn't stand a chance.

> it’s now very dangerous for teachers to contradict students on any matter they could possibly claim is a religious belief

I can't wait for the Christian Science believers to complain - they believe that all disease is caused by "a false sense of separation from God" (take that germ theory of disease!)

As it's often impossible to parody genuine, gross stupidity, I expect your hoax list to be proposed to the Texas State Board of Education as reasons to reject physics and astronomy books that argue for current theories of gravity.

I hereby propose Mencken's Law: No parody can be so blatantly stupid that some stupid person won't mistake it as serious history or science.
